Walk Two Moons Covers, Part II

(See yesterday's post for Part I)

Continuing yesterday's topic, below are additional book covers for foreign translations of Walk Two Moons:






The red convertible and turkey on the Polish edition (image 2, bottom left) are . . .surprising; the Korean cover in third image (bottom) seems to depict another story entirely.  

I tend to favor covers that do not depict a character on the cover, leaving the reader to 'cast' the character in his/her own mind.

What do you think?  Any favorites or not-favorites among these?

    i agree. i like picturing what the character looks like in my mind. when the cover depicts a character, it messes with my own image.

    that being said, my favorite of this bunch is the very first (korean). i appreciate the size of the door. the fact that it's small, draws the reader in. and, i always love empty space on a cover. space lets the story breathe.

    I am amazed! There are so many variations and each has a different "feel". . the power of graphic design. It's interesting that Salamanca's name is used in the German versions.

    I have the original American version, which I am partial to. I love seeing the different cover designs.

    It's difficult to choose a cover as I did not read any book of you yet. Each time I go to a book shop, I try to find one of your books but I did not yet. If I find one, I'll buy it, read it , and tell you!

    I am in agreement, Sharon, about the Korean cover. It made me think of Heidi. The Slovak version looks a bit frightening.

    Although I don't usually like pictures of the characters on the covers, I felt drawn to the Danish version in the last set of pictures. That's sort of how I envisioned Sal.
    Do you have a favorite Sharon?

    Translation are interesting. Elenka can read/translate slovak. She's kinda baffled by the words on the cover.

    re: Birdman's comment on the Slovak translation on Walk Two Moons - when I plugged the Slovak title into google translator, it came up 'Taste Raspberry Kiss,' which made me laff and laff. There IS mention of a 'blueberry kiss' in the novel, but still . . . I'm so glad Birdman mentioned Elenka's puzzlement, or I never would have known that it didn't say, simply, Walk Two Moons! Who knows what some of the others say! I'm curious now to translate the titles of the ones I don't already know.
