Another world

this quiet white coated world

Swirly drifts

and startling sun bright

. . . but there is work to be done

to clear a path

from here to there

and there to here

now toting ice

hunkered down

old woodpiles

slumbering

pond

glazed with ice

brook a-gurgling

ahhhh

and rain and sleet

and sleet and rain

and snow and ice

and so it goes

Winter in Maine

Yes, it's cold in Maine

but

people know how to 

take advantage of winter.

Dressed in layers

they celebrate the ice

the blue sky

beside the harbor.
