Ba-bloom!

Round nearly every turn here in NC, you come across these enchanted scenes, trees and bushes exploding in blooms, petals sailing through the air and carpeting the ground, pollen infiltrating your eyes and nose and painting every surface.

Because we are here in NC in April and then return to western New York state at the end of the month, we are able to experience two springs--ba-bloom! There is nothing quite like the surge of spring . . . except perhaps for the red and gold trees of autumn or the first quiet snowfalls of winter.

Do you have a favorite season?

  1. Two more weeks and that will be us. As to seasons? Sometimes I think my favorite season is mud season (February?) It is then that hope returns. the tips of daffodils push through the mud, tree buds swell and the sun often forces its warmth through for several hours at a time. The anticipation before all the work begins, like Christmas Eve before all the presents are opened. This is when I realize with glee that it really is all going to happen again. SPRING!

  2. Oh, definitely spring is my favorite. All the beautiful blooms on trees just don't last long enough, but at least the spring and summer flowers will get us through to autumn!

  3. BYGarden: Mud season? Whoah! You might be the only reader/viewer to choose that one.

  4. Ah, spring. I'll never identify with "April is the cruelest month..." That's completely wrong. I embrace the rain, wind, sun, flowers, leaves. It's like the creation of the world. It reminds me of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. C.S. Lewis knew what he was doing when he said that the White Witch's rule was always winter and never Christmas!
Those with two springs are blessed indeed!

  5. So beautiful! I always try to time vacations south in order to experience double springs. I can't get enough of this time of year!

  7. Favorite season? I can't decide. I can never pick just one favorite (my hubby being one exception).

Speaking of my hubby, I managed to get him to read Love that Dog the other day. I feel so accomplished!

  8. At the end of each season, the next one is my favorite. Ha. So Spring is first at the moment.

I'm so excited to have found your blog *gushing shamelessly*. I absolutely love your books, especially Love That Dog! You've shown my children how to enjoy poetry and I can't thank you enough for that.
