Life and writing, serious and humorous, old and young, past and present: it's all part of the fabric.
“Maybe we’re here only to say: house, bridge, well, gate, jug, olive-tree, window--at most, pillar, tower--but to say them, remember, oh! to say them in a way that the things themselves never dreamed of so intensely.” --Rilke
I love our dogwood for these very reasons. And the fact that the flower's petals are modified leaves makes it even more of a marvel.
ReplyDeleteSharon Creech! I love your writing style...as beautiful as that blossom.
ReplyDeleteThat's the book I want to write too. But the one I write always comes out looking like woolly mammoth baby preserved in tar.
ReplyDeleteLove your dormitory, library and other bird house. It makes sense now I've browsed a little that you've lived in Europe - that was my first impression:) Thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I'll argue that you've already written books like that. All your books, especially Walk Two Moons, Chasing Redbird, and Ruby Holler, make me marvel!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree with Lori and Laura. Your books are delicate blossoms, full of subtle and complimentary color, symmetry, and grace.
ReplyDeleteDogwoods are among my favorites. Ours bloomed in our woods in March!
ReplyDeleteYou are very talented, I'm always enchanted by your words! :)
ReplyDeleteLéia
You described it beautifully and I concur!
ReplyDeleteAll of the above. Love your writing...
ReplyDeleteThis is such a calming image. The translucent quality of the petals and leaves contribute to that.
I think you could write a book ABOUT that dogwood blossom! And I agree with all that you said. I love when the dogwoods bloom here in Stone Creek!
