Layers and Water

I am addicted to walks
slow, meandering walks

drawn to layers

Everything relates to story

the frozen water
 cupping frozen leaves
is a mind
holding an untold story

it waits
and waits
until
the thaw

::

I am drawn to water
water
water

and what lies beneath:
layers
of stone and silt and shell

Writing a story
is uncovering
the layers
sifting the silt
hoping there is more
than sludge
down there.

  7. Dear Mrs. Creech,

Here are some words that my students use to describe your poems about Water and Layers: delightful, encouraging, interesting, inspiring, wonderful, beautiful, elegant.

They are inspired to search for the story treasures that are waiting in their minds.

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Bright's Class

  11. Dear Mrs. Creech,
I liked the poem because it had to do with layers and water and about how water can turn into ice. I liked the pictures you had because it made me wonder how the pictures can tell a story.

  17. Dear Mrs. creech
I love your poem about water.
I think ice is weird, because it's water that is a solid. I think that I should write a poem about water someday.
