Stocking Up

Last year we had a billion (or so) walnuts and hickory nuts; this year very few.  Slim pickings for the squirrels and chipmunks.  First snow is forecast for today, so this guy is doing some late scrounging.

  1. That's a very big nut for a very little mouth. I hope he managed to get it stored away. Stay warm.

  3. Either he's a little squirrel or that's one gigantic nut. Good for him/her.

  7. You could send a few squirrels down here...we'll have acorns galore through the spring. Your squirrels are different...ours are gray. Dull. But they're still cute.

    How's the writing going?

  9. Hi Sharon...thanks for your comment on The Villages. The day I took that photo there must have been 50 plus of these things wandering about...mostly together. Very interesting.

  10. That one nut alone could feed a family of squirrels for a month!

  12. Good morning! Re your comments about Cody's...we have one of these restaurants in Ocala, also. Have only eaten there once, but it was good. The one in The Villages is generally crowded...it's a fun place without being too boisterous...

  16. Darling photo, Sharon. We have a huge hazel tree that we never get any nuts from – oh, there are plenty, but the squirrels and jays beat us to it every year! Have a lovely weekend. – g

  17. We'll never know what to expect anymore. This year we had a tremendous nutty display from all the oaks. Giant acorns carpet the street. The squirrels have taken up bowling on my roof.
