Purging bookshelves
I came across a keeper:
Honey, I Love and other love poems
by Eloise Greenfield
(HarperCollins, 1978)
In it is one of my favorite poems:
Things
Went to the corner
Walked in the store
Bought me some candy
Ain't got it no more
Ain't got it no more
Went to the beach
Played on the shore
Built me a sandhouse
Ain't got it no more
Ain't got it no more
Went to the kitchen
Lay down on the floor
Made me a poem
Still got it
Still got it
xx
I like this! lol
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love this. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThis has been one of my favourites since the days of CLNE - I shall always hear it in Ashley Bryan's voice!
ReplyDeleteEverything sounds divine in Ashley's voice.
DeleteNow that's worth keeping!
ReplyDeleteHave you heard these read in Eloise Greenfield's voice?
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't. Have you? I'd love to . . .
DeleteI have.
DeleteLove the poem... soooo true! It goes so fine with another 'keeper', iconic summer family shots.
ReplyDeleteSuper poem with super rhythm...Sharon: to get back to your question re David Dewey's wc workshop: He does them from his home in Owl's Head...different locations on that peninsula & around boatyards of Rockland. (Mechanic Street Park) Google his name, you'll come to his site, click on workshops. His gorgeous work is at Caldbeck Gallery, Rockland, group show opening is tomorrow evening (15th). A brilliant teacher, he too has a fun way with words.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that info. . . I'll be in Rockland/Camden area this fall, will check it out. . .
Deletewhat a coincidence! i stumbled across "honey, i love" just the other day when i was making some book poems.
