Simplify, simplify, simplify:
this is what I seem to be aiming for lately
in writing
in art
in life.
To pare down to harmonious elements
in size
color
sound
emotion
texture.
If I could write a novel
as perfect as this small
flower arrangement
well, then,
that would be
something
!!
xx
oh, but you do.
ReplyDeleteIt's very complicated to reach simplicity , which makes it precious !
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with Kitty. You do. You have. LOVE that book!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Birdman & brattcat. . And your whole blog has a sweet simplicity too. And the way you paint...
ReplyDeleteBeautifully stated.
ReplyDeleteI relate. Simplicity = Oxygen.
I'm trying, too. It's hard........... I think you've got a beautiful start.
ReplyDeleteIt takes time to write a powerful poem, and you have done this. We especially loved how you could write a poem on such a simple idea. We also loved how this poem was honest. From reading your poem, we learned so many more craft moves. Craft moves are deliberate decisions you make while writing your piece. We named a craft move we found in your poem, "Simplify..." Since we read this poem, we now know to notice the simple things "in writing/ in art/ in life." Thank you, Sharon Creech, this poem is really something.

Yes! You will never run out of things to write about if you are able to notice the simple things. . .for there is much richness in simplicity . . .
