November

A hawk hovering in our yard, waiting to scoop up dinner in the form of a chipmunk.

Squirrel stopping for a snack on the steps.

I am inside, writing my words, my mind half in and half out of the window.

  1. I am inside watching the birds flock to the feeders in the falling snow.

Thanks for explaining about the vignette tool in iPhoto. I will ask my son if I can try it on his Mac sometime - and look for something similar in PhotoShop.

  3. half in this world, half in the world of your imagination. i hope the hawk didn't eat one of the chipmunks you know personally.

  4. With all that activity out your window, I'm not surprised about the half in/half out business!

  6. One day this summer I watched as several birds dove at a young hawk hanging around the feeders outside my kitchen window. Despite their persistence, he refused to leave. The purpose of his presence became obvious when he plunged into the Bridal Wreath Shrub nearby and like a flash reappeared with a small bird dangling from his beak.

I didn't know a squirrel could make such a mess with a single walnut.

  7. I'd like to have such a view, and such lovely visitors! But I'm not sure I could work instead of dreaming...
