Sometimes you think you know
where you are
in a story
but then
a cloud descends
and you're no longer sure:
Is this the right setting?
What's down there in that valley?
What is going to happen?
Why can't I see . . .?
You walk from one room
to the next
You wash a dish or two
and then
The cloud lifts!
It's a miracle.
You know where you are.
You know where you're going.
At least for the time being . . .
xx
This is so true. Sometimes when I sit down to write, the words come fast and furious and other times, nothing. Nothing at all.
ReplyDeleteIt's a miracle. And a wonder. And a mystery. Both the writing process and the gorgeous clouds in the Swiss mountains!
ReplyDeleteYou must run with it while you can!

Lovely thoughts and pictures.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great analogy, AND you get some dishes done too.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. Muddling through a second draft right now and the forecast has been cloudy for a long time.
